THE LUTHERAN CHURCH—MISSOURI SYNOD

What We Believe As Lutherans
As Lutherans We Believe:
+ The Bible is the inspired and inerrant Word of God.
+ All people are separated from God by sin and cannot save themselves.
+ Jesus Christ is true God and true man. He lived, suffered, and died for the sins of all people, that we need not remain separated from God.
+ Whoever turns from their sins and believes in Jesus Christ as their Savior has forgiveness of sin and eternal life in heaven.
+ Salvation is a free gift which God gives by grace through faith in Jesus Christ alone.
+ That Jesus is coming back one day to judge all the world, to send unbelievers to eternal punishment and to take all who have faith in Jesus to eternal life in heaven.
+ In response to God's love, we strive to lead lives that are pleasing to God as the result of faith, and together with fellow Christians in the church, we dedicate ourselves to serving God in love and faithfulness.
+ That God intended "all nations" (and ages) to be baptized using water and the Word. Through baptism, God creates faith and washes away sin.
+ The Lord's Supper is more than a memorial meal, but a sacred meal in which Jesus gives us His very body and blood in, with, and under the bread and wine for the forgiveness of our sins and to strengthen our faith.
